7.5+mile (12.39 km) loop around Nevada City
Walking by historic sites, both of the first people, the Nisenan, who spoke the Maidu language, in which Nevada City has chosen to reflect in names, such as Maidu Avenue, and relics of the iconic Gold Rush Era history found throughout Nevada County.
Take in the history while passing the many sites that evolved through the 1849er- gold rush era in California. The Pelton wheel and The Miner’s foundry, as well as other mining relics, are found on this journey.
1st Segment >2 miles
Head Up Coyote Street across Hwy 49. Follow the newly constructed Nevada City Maidu Trail to Hirschman Pond Trail. Traverse the quiet scenic route and stop for “reflection time”.

Continue Hirschmann Pond Trail and find your “Silent Mile.” Cross Hwy 49 to Eden Ranch. Hit the technical trail to Champion Mine Road and the Canal Trail.

Cruise the Tribute Trail back into Nevada City. Enjoy walking along the Canal waters or detour to Deer Creek. Stop to admire the Nisenan suspension bridge,
